This initiative is a project of Lingua Franca Media, Inc., an independent, 501(c)(3) public charity founded in 2017 and headquartered in Cambridge, Massachusetts. All donations are fully tax-deductible. 

A donation now enters you into our Founders’ Circle. Members receive an exclusive Editor’s Letter detailing our impact and regular invitations to meet with our writers for discussions of their work. We will also make a hearty expression of our gratitude on this website.

That does not mean we will depend on philanthropy forever. In year one, we will recruit and hire a small staff, commission our first batch of writing, and add features to this website. As we commence our publishing program, we will build a network of writerly talent. In year two, we will expand our publishing capacity with a sponsored newsletter and institute a fellowship program to nurture our writers. In year three, we will market and sell digital subscriptions, converting this website into a paid platform. We will also place our best writing between the covers of an annual book.

These revenue-generating initiatives will progressively lower our reliance on philanthropy.

Starting up is the hardest part. Give us a chance—and we will do the rest ourselves.
